Upstream

We want to stress the importance of professional (employment) attitudes with students by:

- Using (former) SODA students as role models.

- Organising “reward events” for SODA pupils in collaboration with youth movements, youth work, university colleges and private initiatives. These events are also accessible to non-SODA pupils. In that way, we increase the connection between (SODA) pupils.

- Ensuring that SODA students receive the most instructive, fun and rewarding holiday jobs and internships. Via www.sodaplus.be/jobs

- Giving tips to non-SODA students and showing them role models.

- Supporting youth work, youth movements, university colleges* and event management companies in:

> Contacting young people from TSO/BSO/BuSO/DBSO, often coming from schools with very poor SES scores.

> Marketing (which types of events are relevant?, how to organize them?, etc.)

> PR (Does our target group know this organisation already?, How can we improve their image?,...)

> Follow-up of the event based on feedback from our students.

*University Colleges: event management, social work,... (options)

UPSTREAM BELIEVES IN THE POWER OF YOUTH WORK. FOR US, YOUTH WORK IS A PLACE WHERE YOUNG PEOPLE ARE STIMULATED TO GROW IN THEIR OWN COMPETENCIES, WHERE AUTONOMY COMES FIRST AND SOLIDARITY IS FULLY FACILITATED. IN THIS SENSE, YOUTH WORK PURSUES THE SAME OBJECTIVES. WE SEE THAT THE MAJOR PLAYERS IN YOUTH WORK (YOUTH CENTRES, YOUTH MOVEMENTS, ETC.) ARE STILL NOT SUFFICIENTLY DIVERSE. WE BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF DIVERSITY.
